Unworthy of Love
“You’re so beautiful.”
Blair sighed softly as he looked up into his Sentinel’s blue eyes. “I don’t think so. You’re the Greek God around here. I’m just an unworthy mortal.”
Jim’s hands shook as he carefully cupped Blair’s face. “No. You are beautiful.”
The curly haired man looked up at him. “Right,” he replied, clearly disbelieving.
Jim‘s breath hitched as he moved closed. “Oh, God, to finally have you here.”
Blair smiled up at him. “I’m here.”
The Sentinel carefully placed kisses all over his face. Loving the small sounds of pleasure it caused. When he placed his lips over Blair’s holding still, waiting to see what the other man would do. Waiting to see if his touch would be accepted.
Blair’s arms came up slowly and went around his Sentinel’s big, burly body. He opened his mouth to the one covering his. His first real kiss, ever. It felt so good. It made him hungry for more. He opened his mouth wider, his tongue instinctively teasing his Sentinel’s. Inwardly smiling when the teasing made Jim growl.
When they pulled away. Jim’s big body had fine tremor coursing through it. “I’ve searched the world over for you.”
Blair rubbed his face against Jim’s chest. “Me?”
The Sentinel sighed. “Oh yeah. My beautiful, perfect Guide.”
Blair gave a small sad sound, so full of hurt and unhappiness. It cut Jim to the bone. “I’m hardly that. I’m far from beautiful and so far from perfect it’s not even funny.”
Jim cupped Blair’s face in his hands again. Looking deep into the big blue eyes brimming with tears.
“You are perfect and you are beautiful. Very beautiful. So beautiful that when I first saw you-you took my breath away.”
Blair shook his head carefully, not willing to lose the warmth of the hands against his skin. He might never again have it. He might wake from this. In his lonely bed, alone. Unwanted and unloved.
“No, I’m not. I wish I was though. Maybe then someone would want to love me.”
Jim blinked. “Me. Don’t I count?” he whispered, in a voice so low Blair had to struggle to hear it.
“What?”
“I love you.”
It was Blair’s turn to blink. “How can you love me? We’ve just met.”
“I’ve searched my entire life for you, Blair. We may have just met, but my heart and soul know you.”
Blair closed his eyes, fighting the tears welling in them. “Oh, Goddess…”
Jim moved nuzzled his hair, hands running in soothing patterning up and down his back. “I have always loved you. Always.”
“I don’t understand any of this.”
“You don’t have to. It just is. Feel what is in your heart and tell me that it doesn’t know me. And I’ll take you home.”
Blair rested his head against the beating of Jim’s own heart, it had suddenly sped up. “I…”
“What do you feel?”
“Overwhelmed. As if I’m in a dream I never want to wait up. Where I am loved and wanted and perfect.”
The Sentinel ran his hand gently over Blair’s twisted shoulder, making the curly haired man flinch.
“You are loved and wanted and perfect. You are all these thing and more.”
“If this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up.”
“You’re not dreaming. It’s real.”
Blair pulled away slightly to meet the blue eyes watching him. “You can’t want me.”
“Why?”
Blair ducked his head. “You deserve someone perfect. Someone better. Someone not me.”
He heard the bigger man’s breathing hitch. “I want you. No one else but you.”
“You deserve someone better.”
Jim sighed softly. “Look at me, Blair.” The curly haired man looked up. His eyes filled with pain, regret and loss. Knowing it was all going to be taken from him. “I have all that I want and it’s in my arms right now.” Jim smiled at him. “and he’s prefect. Don’t deny me. Please, Blair.” He pleaded. “We can be so good together. Give us a chance. Let me prove it.”
“I’m dreaming. I know I am.”
Jim shook his head. “No, sweetheart. This is no dream. It’s for real.”
The tears finally fell. “I…”
“Please,” Jim begged, his own eyes filling. Needing this. Needing Blair with everything in him. Heart and soul. Hoping he could get the curly haired man to believe.
Blair looked at his through the haze covering his eyes. “For real?” he asked. Hoping for the impossible.
Jim nodded. “For real. For always. Please?”
Blair gave a shaky breath. Closing his eyes for a second he opened then and nodded. “For real. For always. Mine.” He sighed shakily as arms came around him, holding him as if he were the precious thing in the universe. Giving him the impossible.
“For real. For always. Mine,” Jim repeated, his tears falling into Blair’s soft curls, vowing now that he was in his arms he was never, ever going to let go.
