Blue Tinted World: Found

“Dad?”

William looked up started.  “Son?  Have you found them?”  he asked frantically.  “Have you found Jim and Blair?”

Steven ran up to him.  “No, but I know where they are.”

William put down the phone.  He’d been ready to call the police.  “Where are they?”

Steven turned to Daniel who was standing next to William.  “Daniel, what do you know about the spirit world?”

“Steven, what has that to do with your brothers?”  William asked impatiently.

“I’m getting to that.  First I need to know.  Answer me, Daniel.”

The Shaman frowned as he gathered his thoughts.  “The spirit world is where we go to gather our thoughts and connect with our animal spirits.  To find answers to the questions of the soul.  Why?”

“Can a person, say-a rather dumb, but really gifted Sentinel and his tiny little Guide go there?”

“They can, but only spiritually.  Their bodies would remain here.”

Steven moved closer to Daniel.  Looking up at the Shaman intently.  “Are you sure?”

“Nothing is ever sure in these things, Steven.  Why are you asking?”

“I think that’s where Jim and Blair are.”

“How do you know?”  William asked anxiously.  “How do you know that’s where they’re at?”

Steven frowned.  “It’s hard to explain.  I sense it.”

William looked at Daniel.  “How could this have happened?”

Daniel shrugged his shoulders.  “I don’t know.  Maybe it had something to do with the ceremony.  Or it might be that they needed to go there to connect to their spirit animals.  I’ve never heard of a case of anyone physically going there.  Steven, are you sure?”

Steven closed his eyes for a moment, when he reopened them.  “Yeah.  And Jim is scared out of his wits,” he replied, eyes filling with tears.  “Oh, God.”

William gathered him close.  “Steven?”

Steven looked up at his father.  “Dad, Jim’s gonna go crazy there.  He’s barely getting the hang of the whole Sentinel thing.  He’s so regimented in everything he does. How he brushes his teeth, how many times he combs his hair. He’s got his underwear coded for what day his going to wear it.  Forget his t-shirts and shoes.  Dad, he’s scared. Really, really scared. He’s been thrown into a world he doesn’t know.  Away from everyone and everything he understands and loves.  We are his lifeline.”

“Blair?”  William whispered softly, taking Steven into his arms.  “What about Blair?”

“He’s trying to calm Jim.  But Jim’s shaking like a leaf.  He’s scared out of his wits and then some.  He’s so afraid he’ll never see us again.”

Daniel laid a hand Steven’s shoulder.  “Can you contact them?”

Steven frowned for a moment.  “I think I might be able to, but Jim’s so scared and Blair is working his little heart out to keep him from zoning.”  Suddenly he smiled.

“What?”  Daniel asked curiously.

“There’s a baby wolf and baby black panther there with them, trying to help.  Are they spirit guides?”

“Yes, I think so.”

Suddenly Steven’s smile vanished.  “Jim is shaking really hard.”  His eyes filled with renewed tears.  “They’re both crying. I gotta help. I just gotta.”  He met the Shaman’s worried green eyes.  “Tell me how to help my brothers, Daniel. Please?  Tell me how to bring them home.”

Daniel stared out into the room, blinking the haze of tears from his own eyes. “I wish I knew.”
