Frozen in Time: Contact

“We can remove the tattoo if you like,” Blair told the man sitting across from him.  They’d just arrived to a sector know as Trinity Moons from Arcadia, a trash planet that no longer existed.

Todd and the remaining soldiers had destroyed it in an effort to save the remaining survivors who’d crash landed there years before, from a new breed of super soldiers given the order to kill them.

On his examine table sat one such soldier.  Dr. Blair Sandburg had been called in from Trinity Moon 1 to take care of the soldiers.  Sgt. James 02167 stared at him with cold, expressionless eyes.

Blair sighed unhappily.  James was a beautiful specimen of maleness even covered in the scars of battle.  He sat unconcerned about his nudity. Blair thought to himself if he had a body like James he wouldn’t be to concerned about being nude either.

“Do you want me to remove the tattoo?  You don’t really need it here.  You’ll be starting a new life.” Still nothing as James continued to stare at him. “Please, James-give me something to work with here.  Talk to me.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Blair sat up straighter in his chair.  “Did you just talk to me?  Oh, man.  I feel like throwing a party now.  I’ve only been trying to get you to talk to me for an hour.  So you want the tattoo removed?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Okay, lay back and let’s get started.”

Blair help James lean back.  Giving him a pillow to make him more comfortable, before reaching for the laser that would remove the tattoo that signified his title and rank as a soldier.  Blair carefully covered the startling cold blue eyes looking up at him with shielding to protect them.

“It’s going to be okay.  I just need to cover your eyes so they won’t get damaged by the laser,” Blair said, when James made a small sound of protest.

Thirty minutes later Blair uncovered Jame’s eyes.  Smiling down at him when James blinked up at him.  “All done.  Your skin will be slightly tender for a while, but you don’t have a tattoo any more.  Would you like to see?” James didn’t answer, he just continued to blink up at him. “Damn, and we were doing so good too.”

He helped James sit up.  Oh, man if he wasn’t a physician and a professional he would have thrown himself onto his knees and worshipped on the alter of James.  Even so before he could stop himself he reached out and ran his hands over a broad well-muscled chest.  James only response was a slight furrowing of his brows.  Blair hastily removed his hands.

“Sorry.  Sorry.”

“Why, Sir?”

Blair looked up at him.  “Why what?”

“Why are you sorry, Sir?”

Blair leaned back against the bed, hoping if he didn’t have to looked at James it would take way all temptation.

“First off, stop calling me sir.  I’m Blair.  Got it?”

“Yes, Sir.”

Blair sighed unhappily. “Okay, never mind we’ll work on that.  I’m sorry I touched you without permission.”

“You can touch me if you want.  You are a physician.”

“Yeah, but the way I wanna touch you is not physicianly.”

“What do you mean, Sir?”

Blair turned to look at James.  The blue eyes were still cold, but not so much.  “This isn’t the place to talk about it.  Do you want get something to eat?”

“Yes, Sir?”

“Hmm, James?” The soldier turned to look at Blair.  “You might want to put on some clothes.”

“So, tell me about yourself?”  Blair asked, handing over a roll.

“Sir?”

“Family.  Likes, dislikes that sort of things?”

James took the roll. Furrowing his brows again.  “I don’t know, Sir?”

“About what?  Your family?  Likes?  Dislikes?” James picked up his fork and began eating at a pace that was making Blair dizzy.  “Hey, slow down.  No one is going to take your food.”

The fork hit the table with a loud clatter.  “I’m sorry, Sir.”

Blair reached out and touched James left hand.  “Don’t be sorry.  It’s just that you’re not a Soldier any more.  Take your time, actually taste the food you’re eating.”

“Sir?”

Blair sighed.  “I really wish you’d quite calling me sir.  I’m Blair.  Call me Blair.”

“Sir, yes, sir.”

Blair shook his curly head.  Not noticing that the flying curls were watched with interest.   “Not sir.  Blair.  Say it.  Say my name.”

“Sir?”

Exasperated Blair reached over and cupped James’s face in between his hands.  “Blair.  Call me Blair.  You can do it.  Say my name.” Confused blue eyes looked at him.  “Come on, please.  Please say my name.”

“I…”

“James…Jim, please?”

“Blair.”  The word came out so softly, Blair almost didn’t hear it.

He gave Jim a brilliant smile, letting go of the soldier’s face he raised his fist in triumph.  “Yes.  Yes.  Hallelujah.  He said my name.”  Blair rose from the table they were sitting at in the small, deserted canteen of the hospital.  He dancing around it happily, before reaching over and giving Jim a big, sloppy kiss on the lips.    Realizing what he’d done he pulled away.  “Oh, sorry.”

Jim was staring at him with such a look of bemusement.  Reaching up to touch his lips.  “Why, Sir?”

“Why am I sorry?”

James nodded.  “Yes, Sir,” he whispered, running his finger over his lower lip.

Blair tilted his head to the side.  “Did you like it?  The kiss I mean?”

James blushed a bright pink.  “Y…yes, sir.”

Blair moved closer.  Watching as the Soldier did everything in his power to hold still.  “You want more?”

Confused blue eyes looked at him.  There was no response.  After a few silent moments Blair was beginning to think there wasn’t going to be one.  “Yes, Sir.”

“It’s okay to want.  You do know that, right?” Jim looked up at him so lost it broke Blair’s heart.  “Damn the people who did this to you.  Damn, them to hell.”  Jim flinched slightly.  “No, Sweetheart.  It’s not you I’m mad at, it’s the bastards that did this to you.  You are beyond repressed.  Yet you’re so human with no idea how to reach out for affection, for love.  And you wanted it with everything in you, don’t you?”  Blair took Jim’s hand in his.  “The simplest of touch has been denied you.  The right of every human.”  Blair’s eyes filled with tears.  Jim watched in fascination as the curly haired man knelt in front of him.  “Will you let me hold you, Jim?  Want so much to hold you?”

Jim tilted his head to the side, before nodding.  “Yes, Sir.”  Reaching out a free hand he gently touched the tears coursing down Blair’s face.

Blair sighed softly, before reaching up, gathering Jim to him.  “Oh, God, Jim.”

The Soldier held still for a moment, before whispering into Blair’s ear.  “What do I do, Sir?”

Blair gave a watery chuckle.  “What do you want to do?”  he asked, moving in closer to the trembling man.

“I…I don’t know, Sir.”

“Do you want to touch me back?”

“Yes, Sir.”

Blair buried his face against Jim’s neck.  “Then do it.”

“I…”

“Any way you wanna touch me.  Do it.”

Jim pulled way slightly to look at Blair.  Blue eyes wide and confused.  For a long moment he just looked at him.  Before he reached down and wiped at the tears coursing down Blair’s face with the back of his thumbs.

Blair sighed again softly, when hands came up and gently touched his hair.  So tentatively that Blair felt his heart break even more.

“Is this alright, Sir?”

Blair smiled up at him.  “Yeah, yeah it is.  Jim?”

It took Jim a moment to respond so lost in the soft feel of Blair’s curly hair.  “Sir?”

“Have they given you a place to stay yet?”

Jim bent slightly to sniff at Blair’s curly locks.  “No, Sir.”

“Would you like to come home with me?  It’s not that big a place.   But there’s more than enough room for two.  You can come stay with me.  You know, if you want.”

Jim pulled Blair to him with his free hand, burying his face in Blair’s hair.  “Hmm.”

Blair chuckled softly.  “Like my hair?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Do you wanna come home with me?”

Jim pulled away slightly to tangle his fingers in his hair, pulling his head back slightly to look into his eyes.  “Yes, Sir.”

Blair smiled up at him.  “Cool.”

Jim frowned slightly, gathering the slighter man to him.  “Cold, Sir?”  Wrapping him protectively in his arms.

“No, no that’s not what…oh, this is nice.  Yeah, I guess I am a little.  What I meant to say is that I’m glad you wanna come home with me.  I promise not to try anything until you’re you know-ready.”  Blair sighed heavily.  “Lord, knows its gonna be tough.  Being as you’re the Goddess’s gift to…well, everyone.”

“Sir?”

Blair buried his face into a broad chest.  “Just don’t go around naked any more.  Well, unless you want.  Oh, man-does that bring up some really nice images.  Some really nice images.”

“Sir?”

“I wouldn’t mind if you did though.  You know-walk around naked.  If you wanted…”

“Sir?”

Blair was practically bouncing in Jim’s arms.  “Oh, man…I think I need a cold shower.”

Strong fingers tangled into his hair pulling his head back.  “Sir?”

Blair swallowed heavily at the look in Jim’s very handsome face inches from his.  “W…what?”  he said weakly.

“Stop talking now.”  After a long moment.  “Sir.”

Blair nodded.  “Alright.  I can do that.  Sure.”

Jim gave him a small smile, but then that could have been part of Blair’s very active imagination.  “Thank you, Blair.”

Blair’s eyes widened.  “Did you call me, Blair?  You did, didn’t you?  You called me, Blair.”

Jim didn’t answer.  He simply gave Blair that same tiny smile before gathering him back into his arms.
